For Businesses
Work With Organizations
Businesses, whether family owned or Fortune 500, for-profit or non-profit, are systems too and can benefit from a broader understanding of the multiple factors impacting leadership and productivity. By applying systems thinking to individuals within an organization, I can help assess and address such organizational challenges as:
- impasses among management members or co-workers
- elevated anxiety in the workplace
- counter-productive patterns of functioning
- family matters impeding progress in family businesses
I have presented systems thinking concepts in a variety of organizational venues and design each presentation to reflect the specific population I am addressing. As a supplement to the consultation, I create questions that I hope will promote additional thinking and discussion about the concrete applicability of systems thinking to every arena of everyday life.
Examples of these questions include:
- What has changed recently within the organization or within the lives of important team members?
- What is my sibling position and how do I think that impacts my interactions with others?
- What triangles do I observe in the workplace?
- How do I react when I am on the inside twosome of a triangle or, conversely, when I am in the odd-man-out position?
- How can I become more neutral within the triangles and function as more of a resource to those with whom I interact?
- How do I respond to tension in the workplace?
- How do I respond to perceived challenges to my leadership?
- In what ways do I see my expectations of others at play in the workplace?
